2016 Rosé of Grenache
Famed winemaker Ismael Balderas gained worldwide recognition when he was awarded 100 points at the 2001 World Wine Competition in France. He’s since earned numerous awards at San Marcos Creek, including Best in Show at the notable Central Coast Wine Competition. The 2015 Grenache Rosé was also awarded the Silver Medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition.
We’re featuring the 2016 Grenache Rosé, as it’s a superb choice for the holidays.
Rosé is most popular as pool-side heat-buster on hot summer days. However, the brisk acidity and lingering mid-palate flavors of watermelon and raspberry jam make this delightful for a host of holiday foods, from raw oysters, to grilled salmon, and even herbal-rubbed Thanksgiving Turkey.
Using any type of red wine grape, Rosé is made by allowing the skins of the grape to ferment in the wine for a short period of time.
Rosé is considered a summer wine in the US, but in lots of places it’s a year round staple, often used as a Chardonnay might be! Very versatile pairing with difficult to compliment foods.
